Sermorelin is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the first 29 amino acids of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29). It represents the shortest fully functional fragment of GHRH that retains full biological activity at the GHRH receptor.
Typically administered as subcutaneous injection before bedtime to synergize with natural nocturnal GH pulses. Common starting dose is 200-300 mcg/day, titrated up in 50-100 mcg increments every 2-4 weeks. Therapeutic range is generally 200-500 mcg/day. Previously FDA-approved (as Geref) for pediatric GH deficiency diagnosis and treatment.
Mechanisms of Action
3Benefits
5Increased growth hormone secretion
HormonalStimulates endogenous GH production, particularly useful in GH-deficient populations. FDA-approved for diagnosis and treatment of pediatric GH deficiency.
Improved body composition
Body CompositionPromotes lean muscle mass and may reduce body fat through GH-mediated lipolysis.
Enhanced sleep quality
SleepWhen administered before bed, may improve slow-wave sleep duration, coinciding with natural nocturnal GH pulses.
Tissue repair and recovery
RecoveryGH and IGF-1 elevation supports connective tissue repair, bone density, and post-exercise recovery.
Anti-aging and longevity support
LongevityMay counteract age-related decline in GH secretion (somatopause), supporting skin elasticity, energy, and metabolic function.
